Robert's 06 HD Pictures

Ok I posted everything I had.  I have attempted to best describe the moment that these were taken.

Long metal deck river bridge between Savana, IL and Sabula, IA. First day of the ride... Ride from Chicago to here being chased by a huge storm..

Still dry.... A bit hot even with the storm on my back

1 mile winding road through a swamp.

Rats! Rain! Just north of Sabula my luck ran out. Bright sunshine and big rain drops. I found a cool shelter on the roadside.

Still raining

Time to get back on...

Night came quickly.. Group found in Dubuque, IA.. Holiday Inn tonight!

We bounce between Iawa and Ill along the river headed due south. Often exactly as lost as we want to be on day 2 of the ride.

Ohhh look Loud Thunder Road.. It's gotta be good!

Kay.... Several hours on LTR and we are about 1/2 hour as the buzzard flies from where we started.

Late, tired, & almost run down be a fool in a truck we arrive just South of St. Louis. It's another Holiday Inn night.

Time lapse... Joe and Sarah all married making their escape! Next stop...Athens Greece

A hot ride into and out of Mississippi takes us to See Alex in Picwik, TN. We are welcome guests at his rib joint. We eat and shove off.

Shoven'...

Crossing the Picwik Dam... it really stinks right here!

Holding breath still

Ok it really smells right here! To the left is a cardboard factory.

Hey! errr Hay... The TN countryside. Mooo it's getting farmy and quiet

Entering Lynchburg. Rain is just starting to fall

This is the next door neighbor to the Jack Danniels factory which is really pretty, but went past really fast!

Hiding under a huge oak tree at a Vet from Minnesota's place... In the rain

Better picture with the poisen ivy in view

We meet Adele and George... It was great to finally find them. I don't even remember the grey clouds!

Adele...

George

Happy George. I had to slow down.. His bike is SO quiet that I thought he had stalled.

Adele.. She "just" pulled a weelie right before this picture.. really!

Mother and Gatis on the Yellow Pony (My kids are helping me)

Sir Garry and Beth our road leaders

More tricks and antics.. She is trying to wear down the bottoms of her new boots.. or she may be getting off for a potty stop.

Smoky Mountains

More smoke and mirrors.. I spy with my little eye.. A still.. A pickup truck.. A hill Billy ... and 6 wisky stills!

OK it is very pretty here

The crew takes a moment at Lake Fontanna

Looks like a film Jam! Yikes we're going to need an Engineer who is NOT on vacation.

Just what are you smiling about... now..

Lake Fontanna Dam

Here is the top of Deals Gap (The Tail of the Dragon) ((US129)) I'm pointing to the really fun part with my HUGE nose.

We're too scared to go

Turn #1... 317 to go in the next 10.9 miles... Hang on!!!

North Carolina... Look more stills.

This is the mecca of Bikes and Cars who know about the Dragon in the woods..

Get that SPF 99 on! Just make sure your hands are not slippery... It's going to be a fast ride back to the cabin.

The power house at Fugitive Dam.

Fugitive Dam... See the skid mark where Harrison Ford slid down the face?

Looking over

Thinking about jumping

Busted picking my nose....

Lake Fontana again. Faster this time

Smokey Mountain Parkway... It's "almost" a shame we are making SO much noise...

Saying Good Bye to Adele and George. They stay behind to finish the dishes and close up the cabin...

Bbye guys! We had a blast and will do it again!

The fog machine came on as if to say... How can you guys leave such a pretty place! It will be a 780 mile day! It starts and ends in a fog!

It's all freeway after this shot

Ok after this one..

We make it back to the Mississippi and begin to follow it home.. This is the Mines of Spain park in Dubuque.

Nother view without camera strap

The grave site of Mr Dubuque. And a nice spot for a family picture

Proof that you should not drive up here.. Even if you are the park service.. Seriously.. A butterfly across the river could have rolled this truck.

The big city of Dubuque

River crossing

Small town on the river

Quick.. Jump on him before he makes it into the septic dunp station!

Stay away from the snaping end! This turtle was found in the grass at the Minnesota / Iowa boarder next to the river.
